OCTOBER'S BIRTHSTONES
OPAL

Opals are said to be linked to the heart, stomach and digestion. Thought to have a beneficial effect on the psyche, pouring balm on broken hearts and restoring inner harmony. Some say it is a stimulant for producing insulin, regulating the metabolism and strengthening the body's own defences reducing inflammation and lowering fever.
HAEMATITE (SOMETIMES SPELT HEMATITE)

Hematite is said to promote the formation of blood cells. It has been used to stabalize the circulation of the blood and combats hyperemia and embolisms. Thought to be the 'grounding' stone giving one the ability to 'see the light at the end of the tunnel'. Hematite is said to protect the wearer's vital energy and guarantee survival.
OBSIDIAN

Obsidian comes in several different varieties but they are all 'nature's natural glass' and are the result of volcanic action. It is thought to reduce tension and release energy. Said to staunch blood and accelerate the healing of wounds. As it is said to improve circulation it is connnected to being beneficial to anyone who has cold feet and hands.
October's birthstones are Opal, Haematite and Obsidian
